BVI Village, situated hillside in the north-western area of Tortola is a three-bedroom private vacation villa providing accommodation for up to six guests. Mediterranean in style, with distinctive and attractive whitewashed walls and terracotta tiles, the house is built over two pavilions. The main pavilion houses living and alfresco dining areas, a shaded but otherwise effectively outdoor kitchen and, to the west, two guest bedrooms.
The living area is simply furnished with comfortable futons. Adjacent to the living area is the unusual outdoor kitchen, which offers a good range of appliances. This covered terrace also provides an area for alfresco dining and relaxing in the shade, all the while offering spectacular ocean views to the outlying islands, which include Jost van Dyke and Sandy Spit.
There are two guest bedrooms. One, with two twins or king (your choice), has a spacious ensuite shower with an interesting circular shower stall and an invigorating rainhead shower. Accessed separately, the second guest suite incorporates an office space on the ground level. From here, steps lead up to the mezzanine and the relatively small loft bedroom itself, this sharing a bathroom with the twins/king bedroom. The loft bedroom can, with prior notice, also be made up with either twin beds or one king.
The villa’s main attraction is its generously sized private pool, raised on three sides to provide additional safety for children. Chaise lounges on the pool patio make this a relaxing area in which to spend time either sunbathing or reading. To the front of the main pavilion and pool is a flat lawn, perfect for children to play games on.
Over on the far side of the pool is the very private master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and again a spacious outdoor shower. All bedrooms are fully screened and have a/c.
The area
The Village is located at the top of the hill within its gated grounds. The road leading up to the property is fairly steep, unpaved in places, and with occasional ruts and potholes. With this in mind we would recommend a 4wd rental vehicle to make your journeys to and from the house more comfortable. Other vacation rental villas and up-market residential properties are dotted on this hill above the beach at Long Bay, a desirable area for visitors and residents alike. The mile-long beach at Long Bay is no more than five minutes’ drive down the hill. The idyllic beach at Smuggler’s Cove is approximately five to eight minutes’ drive. Picturesque Soper’s Hole Marina, for stores and restaurants, is around 10 minutes away.
