Clearly influenced by both Balinese and Thai architecture, and with a distinctive high, gabled roof, Azure Wish is an elegant and beautifully appointed villa situated literally just a few feet from the beach on Virgin Gorda’s Nail Bay. It is surrounded by mature landscaping, with tropical coconut palms at the edge of the sand, giving it the feel of a classic desert-island hideaway. The house, ideally positioned to view the best sunsets, can accommodate up to eight adults (plus one or two children) in considerable style and comfort.
Accommodation is over two floors and is fully air conditioned throughout. The lower level features a Great Room, with extensive floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors to two sides. These allow in plenty of relaxing Caribbean light, and also provide spectacular ocean views. This room has a separate living area with comfortable sofa and chairs, a formal dining area and, adjacent to that, a brand new, well-equipped kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, concrete countertops and breakfast bar – an enthusiastic cook’s delight. A convenient half-bathroom is to the rear.
The beach side of the villa has a wraparound deck with relaxing cushioned sofas and chaise lounges and a new L-shape heated swimming pool, perfect at any time for a quick dip to cool off from the Caribbean sun – or again to watch those wonderful sunsets. The pool also features a Kiddie’s Corner ensuring even the youngest guest can enjoy splashing around in safety. The large terrace is an ideal spot for al fresco dining on the rectangular teak table or relaxing on the chaise lounges. Wooden steps lead down to the beach for sunbathing, some spectacular snorkeling in the clear, warm water, or exploring this stretch of turquoise waters in the villa’s own kayaks. There is also a convenient outdoor shower for rinsing off sand.
Upstairs in the main pavilion are two equally sized and exquisitely furnished master bedrooms with spectacular, 20-foot-high beamed ceilings with skylights on all sides. These, like all four of the bedroom suites, have full a/c, but suspended high above each king-size bed is a stylish electric fan to help keep the room cool the more traditional way if preferred. Sumptuous linens and luxurious bathrooms make these suites very inviting, indeed. The bedrooms share a balcony spanning the width of the pavilion, again furnished with comfortably cushioned sofas and enjoying breathtaking 180-degree ocean views with many lush, green islands in the distance.
Back down on the lower floor and located near the villa’s entrance are two further bedrooms, both with king beds although one can be made up as twins if so required. Again both of these bedrooms have impressively high vaulted ceilings, and share a spacious bathroom with a large, glass-enclosed shower.
